Secretary Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Tariq Afghan is currently serving as a Secretary Youth of Awami National Party Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and a practicing lawyer in Peshawar High Court. Mr. Tariq opened eyes in remote district Upper Dir of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

Since student life, he was involved in student politics, and was an active member of the student wing of Awami National Party’s Pakhtun Students Federation.


Tariq Afghan completed his early education from his native village, and then moved to Peshawar for higher studies.  After completing Political Science degree from University of Peshawar, he got enrolled in Peshawar University’s Law college to pursue his career as a lawyer, and got Law degree with distinction.

Political Career:

Tariq Afghan has kicked off his political career since his student life from the platform of Awami National Party’s student wing Pakhtun Students Federation(PSF) back in 2003.

Owing to his active involvement in the students union politics, Tariq was elected as Senior Vice President of the PSF’s Islamia College unit in 2005.

Later on, He was elected as President of PSF Islamia College in 2006. During his tenure as president of the federation, Tariq used to raise voice for the rights of the students.

Due to his strong commitment and enthusiasm with the students politics, Mr. Afghan was elected as Provincial Information Secretary of PSF in 2007 to built a positive image of the federation in Pakistani media.

In 2013 he served as the member central organizing committee of PSF as well.

In 2015, Tariq Afghan Joined National Youth Organization (NYO)-Youth wing of the Awami National Party.

He was elected as the Provincial Senior Vice President, and later on President of NYO Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2019-20.

After serving and involved for over a decade in students politics, Mr. Tariq has formally joined Awami National Party in 2021, and nominated as the Secretary Youth Affairs in the provincial Cabinet of ANP.

He is also the member of the Central working committee and Council of Awami National Party.
