Rahmat Ali Khan
Provincial Additional General Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Rahmat Ali Khan born on June 4th, 1974, is a Pakistani Politician hailing from Kabal areas of Swat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, currently serving as an Additional General Secretary of the Awami National Party (ANP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Early life and Education:
Rahmat Ali Khan was born to a Political Family of Swat and his father Abdul Rasheed Khan aka Dherai Khan was a strong companion of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan (Bacha Khan) during the freedom movement in the Sub-Continent. Rahmat Ali Khan got his early education from his hometown, Secondary School from Swat, Intermediate from Government Jehanzeb College Swat. After the Intermediate, he went to Russia for Medical Degree but returned without completion of the degree upon parents’ directions. Dherai Khan stood against the rulers of the Swat state and struggled for a democratic system in the area. Dherai Khan was the first President of the National Awami Party (NAP) after the merger of Swat state with Pakistan.
Rahmat Ali Khan joined the Awami National Party in 1994 as a political worker from Swat and remained a campaigner for his brother Shamsher Ali Advocate who was contesting with ANP Ticket from PK-83 Swat. Shamsher Ali remained a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in 2008 till he was assassinated in 2010 in his Hujra. Two of his brothers were also injured in the attack. Rahmat Ali Khan contested in Bi-Election after the assassination of his brother and won the seat. He completed his tenure (2010-13) as a Chairman of the District Development Advisory Committee (DDAC) from Swat. He was also a member of the Standing Committee on zakat, Ushr, Social welfare, Special Education and Women Empowerment Department. Mr Rahmat Ali Khan also remained a member of the Standing Committee on the Administration Department and Standing Committee on the Environment Department. Rahmat Ali Khan remained General Secretary of the Awami National Party Swat from 2010-2019. He is currently the Additional General Secretary of the Awami National Party Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a member of the Provincial Election Commission of ANP.
