Peshawar: Spokesperson Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti
termed report in some newspapers and a private TV channel regarding allocation
of land to Auqaf on lease as against realities. Clarifying the situation, he
said, the 1361 canal land in Machi Sang Bhatti Mardan was allotted to Pakistan
Seed Oil Develoepment Board (PSODB) on lease from 1997 to 2000 at the rate of
Rs.600 per canal and land lease was extended from 2001 to 2010 on same
conditions. He further clarified that lease period till 2012 in the news is also not
correct and in fact it is till 30th June 2010 which expire automatically adding
there is no need for cancellation of lease. Regarding the extension in lease, he
said the provincial government, after lapsing of 13 years, has stringed it with
increase in price of lease. ‘A negative response to this from PSODB, price of
the said land has been estimated under open market value. While concerned DOR
after assessment, fixed the price of the land Rs.1050 per canal under open
market value.’ He maintained.
The spokesperson further added that Administrator Auqaf opined Rs.1200 per canal
price of the land greater than DOR estimation which was approved and the land
was given to M/s NI Associates on lease adding this lease was given on double
rate to the lease expired, however, bringing in further lease transparency, the
chief minister has ordered open auction of the said land.
