Chitral: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti has said that load shedding of electricity poses second problem to the nation after terrorism and the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has to its credit for framing a comprehensive action plan to solve the problem once and for all. Addressing the public gathering on the occasion of the inauguration of work on the 69-MW hydro-power project at Lawi here on Saturday, he said that 24 projects of hydro-power generation were being inaugurated by the provincial government across the province. Amir Hiader Hoti said that the out of the twenty projects, nine belonged to Chitral district which will open new avenue of development in Chitral and bring prosperity and progress in the area.
The chief minister said that the district will get 20 million rupees every year as royalty of electricity and it will be multiplied many times with the completion of other hydro-power projects. He said that the rate of royalty has been doubled for the districts where hydro-power projects are initiated.
He also announced to give employment in the hydro-power projects only to the local people and said that non-locals will be employed only if the required qualified persons were not available locally.
On this occasion, a number of people including former MPA from Chitral Zafar Ahmed Khan including females led by ANP leader Khadija Sardar.
On this occasion, senior ministers Rahimdad Khan, Bashir Bilour and other provincial minister Haji Hedayatullah, Saleem Khan were also present.
