Peshawar, Provincial Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain has urged
students to play their role in restoration of peace and tranquillity in the
province.
Referring to the non-violence philosophy of Baacha Khan, he asked activists of
the Pakhtun Students Federation to promote his peace message.

He was speaking to the PkSF activists at the Bacha Khan Markaz, ANP Central
Secretariat in Peshawar, who had gathered to celebrate “Yaum-i-Tashakkur” over
renaming of the province as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

However, due to Monday’s bomb blasts in Peshawar, the Yaum-i-Tashakkur was
celebrated with simplicity and Quran Khwani was held for those killed in the
incidents.

The minister condemned the terrorist acts in Peshawar and expressed his
sympathies with the leadership of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam and
members of the bereaved families.

About the policies of Awami National Party, Mian Iftikhar said getting
provincial autonomy through the 18th Amendment was a proof of their successful
policies.

Commenting on the Hazara situation, he said “they are our brothers and we extend
them a message of love and brotherhood, but through a conspiracy the province is
being destabilised”.

He however, said the conspirators would not succeed in their designs.

He maintained that difference on the name of the province or demand for a
separate province was the democratic right of the people of Hazara, but they
should adopt the legal and constitutional way.

He also thanked political parties for their support on the issues of renaming
the province and provincial autonomy. Provincial ANP general secretary Tajuddin
Khan, Provincial Sec. Information Arbab Mohammad Tahir Khan Khalil, Imran Afridi
and PkSF Provincial President Majid Khan also spoke on the occasion.
