Awami National Party announced to revive Nanglalay Pakhtun wing of volunteers under the name of ‘Peace and Defence Committee’ to cope with the deteriorating law and order situation in Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

Decision to this effect was taken during a meeting of the special committee of the party held under the chairmanship of Central President Asfandyar Wali Khan. Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti, ANP Provincial President Afrasiyab Khattak and Commander Khudaidad, President of Balochistan chapter also attended the meeting.

Head of the Peace & Defence Committee Imran Afridi said need for reorganising the volunteer wing was felt in the face of the prevailing security situation in the province and the volunteers would now ensure security of their leadership.

Besides taking a detailed view of the security situation, the special committee meeting of the Party also conferred on the political and economic situation and decided to continue struggle to achieve true democracy and ensure supremacy of the constitution.
