Islamabad- (KWNews) The Department of History, Faculty of Social Sciences,
International Islamic University, Islamabad has approved PhD Research Proposal
of Mr. Safi Ullah Khan Marwat which is entitled as "Abdul Wali Khan: A Political
Study (1942-1990)" under the supervision of Dr. Razaia Sultana, Chairperson,
Department of History, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.
The scholar Safi Ullah Khan Marwat belongs to a small village Amin Khan Jabo
Khel of district Lakki Marwat in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. He did his graduation from
Islamia College, Peshawar, got his Master and MPhil degrees in History from
Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. He did his MPhil Thesis entitled as "The
Indian National Congress in N.W.F.P; (1937-1947)" under the supervision of Dr.
Sayed Wiqar Ali Shah, ex-Chairman, Department of History, Quad-i-Azam
In his MPhil thesis, Mr. safi Ullah Khan has highlighted the role of Khan Abdul
Ghaffar Khan and Khudai Khidmatgars during Freedom Movement against British Raj.
He has also thrown a detailed light on different issues and events which took
place in NWFP during 1937-1947 including Qissa Khwani Bazar Incident and its
impacts, Khudai Khidmatgars’ alliance with the Indian National Congress, Dr.
Khan’s Ministries in NWFP thrice, the Referendum of 1947 and aftermath.
Now a days, Marwat is lecturer as well as PhD student at the Department of
History, Faculty of Social Sciences, International Islamic University,
Islamabad. His field of research is socio-political developments in Khyber
Pakhtoonkhwa since its creation in 1901 till present. He is a loyal son of the
soil of Pakhtoonkhwa and his PhD Project would be an asset and value addition to
the socio-political history of not only Pakhtoonkhwa but Pakistan as a whole
because Khan Abdul Wali Khan’s ideals were not confined only to a province or
region but his approach was universal.
