Peshawar, The militants operating in Federally Administered
Tribal Areas posed a permanent threat to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, said
Senator Afrasiab Khattak, the provincial president of Awami National Party.

‘Militants can strike back in the province if they are not
evicted from the tribal areas,’ he said. He was addressing a press conference at
the Peshawar Press Club Sunday evening.

A large number of activists and office-bearers of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party
announced joining ANP on the occasion. Central Deputy Chairman of PkMAP Arshad
Khan, Haji Rahmanullah, Farooque lala of Swabi, Baz Mohammad of Bannu, Sher
Nawaz Khattak of Tank, Abdul Raheem, Pir Zarief Shah Geelani, Ameer Shah Khattak,
Sardar Habibullah, Sardar Yahia, Raza Shah, Ibrahim lala and Jawad Khattak are
prominent among those joined Awami National Party.

Senator Khattak said that security forces destroyed hideouts of terrorists in
Swat and other areas of Malakand division but they were still operating in
tribal areas that had put Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at a razor’s edge.

He said that ANP-led provincial government had bravely combated terrorism in
Malakand and hundreds of their devoted workers sacrificed their lives for the
purpose. He said that owing to bold step taken by the ANP government militants
were isolated and people had risen against them.

He said that leaders of MMA couldn’t pass Hasba Bill from National Assembly
during their previous government while ANP passed Nizam-i-Adl Regulation despite
pressure of opposition.

He said that the province would get 60 per cent share in NFC award. He said that
the amount had been increased due to the transfer of certain ministries from
federal government to provincial government.

Afrasiab Khattak said that the incumbent democratic setup would complete its
tenure and all the conspiracies against the government would be foiled.

Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain
said that terrorists were reorganising after operation in Orakzai Agency but
government beefed up security to foil their designs. He added that people should
keep vigil on militants instead of terrifying others.

He said that after the successful operation in Orakzai and Waziristan agencies,
militants could target the provincial capital, however, he said that there was
no need to worry and the lives and properties of the people would be protected
at all costs.

He also called for full-fledged military operation in Fata to get rid of the
terrorists on permanent basis.

He asked the party workers to stand up against militants and foil their evil
designs through unity.

Talking on the occasion, central deputy chairman of PMAP, Advocate Arshad Ali
said, ‘We are joining ANP and leaving PkMAP because we think that ANP has proved
itself as the sole party working for the rights of Pakhtuns. The ANP is playing
a leading role in the present circumstances for the integrity and prosperity of
the motherland,’ Arshad Khan, along with party districts heads and a large
number of workers joined ANP.

He said that the policies of ANP had backing of the Pakhtuns across the world.
He said that the leadership of ANP made sound decisions that even benefited non-Pakhtuns
also.

The fight against terrorism, achievement of NFC award wherein provinces got 57
per cent share instead of 42 per cent, provincial autonomy and renaming of the
province as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are some of the achievements of ANP that
persuaded us to join the party,’ he added.
