Peshawar: The Central Council of the Awami National Party has elected
Asfandyar Wali Khan unanimously fo rthe next four years by the 640-members
committee at a meeting held at the Chief Minister House.
Senator Haji Mohammad Adeel and Ihsan Wayen were re-elected their previous slots
of senior vice-president and general secretary.
Former provincial secretary general ANP Pakhtunkhwa Tajuddin Khan was given the
post of additional secretary general and Nawabzada Mohsin Ali Khan was elected
deputy general secretary. Tajuddin Khan replaced Hashim Baber who was given the
portfolio of secretary fiance.
Senator Zahid Khan and Dr. Haider Ali Khan were re-elected secretary information
and secretary foreign affairs. Asmaullah Khan secretary culture and Rana Gul
Afridi secured the slot of secretary labour.
Bushra Gohar, Zahir Shah Khan Och, Aurangzeb Khan Yousafzai, Riaz A Sheikh,
Commander Khudaidad Khan, Farah Ijaz and Mohammad Yameen Khan were elected vice
presidents of the party. Jamila Gilani, Khan Nawab, Farooq Bangash, Lala Zahir
Khan, Rasheed Khan, Nasir, Aneela Nadeem and Dr. Wajid Ali Khan were re-elected
joint secretaries.
The party after amendment in its constitution allocated one position each of
women vice president and joint secretary for all the five units of the country.
The nominees from Punjab Sindh and Balochistan will be sent to the central
working committee for approval.
It merits a mention here that the ANP considers the Seraiki belt of Punjab
province as a separate unit. In another amendment, the council authorized the
central president to form committees for his assistance whenever he felt
necessary.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti and the enteire
leadership of the party were present on the occasion.

Later, Asfandyar Wali Khan thanked the council members for reposing
confidence in him.
