Grant for Saher Afridi, Mashooq Sultan
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti has granted a cheque
worth 3, 00,000 each on behalf of the provincial government to prominent poet, writer
and dramatist Zeenat Shah Alias Sahir Afridi and famous Pashto Singer Mashooq
Sultan for their commendable services for promotion and development of �Pashto�
language, literature and culture here at his office on Wednesday.
Peshawar, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti has
granted a cheque worth 3, 00,000 on behalf of the provincial government to
prominent poet, writer and dramatist Zeenat Shah Alias Sahir Afridi for his
commendable services for promotion and development of �Pashto� language and
literature here at his office on Wednesday.
Ameer Haider Khan Hoti lauded the services of Sahir Afridi which he rendered
for promotion of Pashto culture. The Chief Minister expressed well wishes for
his health and long life. He said that people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa well
remember his valuable services for long time.
It merits a mention here that Sahir Afridi has spent most of his life with
prominent poets and writers like Ameer Hamza Khan Shinwari, Ghani Khan, Qalandar
Momand, and Dr. Professor Azam Azam. He had also written several dramas on
social subjects, which were broadcasted and telecasted from Radio and PTV
Peshawar. He is also writer of two books named �Panzeb� and �Karkhi� while his
unpublished work included; �Sanga� and �Yawazi Yawazi�.
Sahir Afridi thanked the provincial government particularly CM Ameer Haidar
Khan Hoti for financial assistance which shows his associoation with Pashto
literature.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also granted a cheque worth 3,
00,000 to prominent Pashto folk singer Mashuq Sultan. He termed her art as an
asset of Khuber Pakhtunkhwa. He lauded her services for promoting Pashto folk
singing and culture at national and international level and assured that the
provincial government will assist writers, poets and artists who had rendered
valuable services for promotion of Pashto language, literature and culture.
Mashuq Sultan is associated with Pashto music since childhood and is a renowned
singer all over the country and the world. The Government of Pakistan has
awarded her with �Pride of Performance� in recognition of her services. Her
songs are still widely prominent. Mashuq Sultan thanked the chief minister for
this generous posture.
