Buner/Sawabi: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti has formally launched Rokhana Pakhtunkhwa Education Program in Districts Swabi and Buner. Under the program, for the first time in the history of the province, free education to boys and girls will be assured under public private partnership in entire union councils that lack government middle and high schools for boys and girls. Addressing separate gatherings at Islamia Model School Naranji District Swabi and Alkhalid Public School Toor Warsak District Buner, the CM said that educating every citizen is the responsibility of the government. He said that unfortunately previous governments have overlooked this responsibility and after lapse of 64 years there are 152 Union Councils out of 987 having no government school for boys and 481 UCs having no government school for girls, consequently, boys and girls of the concerned areas were deprived of education after passing primary or middle. He said that the government of the province has launched process of bearing educational expanses of children upto SSC level enrolled to private schools in areas having no government school under Rokhana Pakhtunkhwa program, added, the process commenced today from Swabi and Buner.
The CM said that first priority has been given to promotion of education in the province and practical measures have been undertaken at primary and higher education sectors. He said that 100 schools have been selected initially under first phase of Rokhana Pakhtunkhwa Scheme and soon it will be expanded to 400 schools while Rs.1 billion has been allocated for the scheme in the budget. He said that Scarcity of resources will not hinder educating the children of Pakhtuns. The CM stressed local notables for costing eye on quality of education in these institutes and principal of concerned school, officers of education department and people of the area have been included in management committees of those schools.
The CM said that we have fulfilled promise of our leaders to hand pen to children replacing gun and launched Rokhana Pakhtunkhwa scheme from Swabi and Buner. He said that the government is giving full attention to promotion of higher education along side primary and secondary education. He said that a total of nine universities in public sector were established during the past 63 years while our government has set up seven new universities and 52 degree colleges in short span of four years. He said that under Stori Da Pakhtunkhwa Scheme top ten position holders in SSC and Inter exam under the entire education boards of the province were given Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 15,000 respectively in order to encourage talented students, inter students of colleges were also included in this program. He termed promotion of education as future of the province which cannot be accomplished without support of the people. He lauded spirit of the people of Buner and Swabi in IDPs fiasco. The CM termed the notion wrong that funds of Swat University have been shifted to Abdul Wali Khan University. He said that the federal government has been requested for funding two universities last year, however the federal government approved funds for only one university, added, he himself suggested Swat University because theSwat University deserve their funds keeping sacrifices and difficulties and suffering of the people of Swat in mind. He said that one thousand kanal land has been acquired for Swat University at a considerable cost and Rs. 20 Crore has been provided to the university for other essential expenditure. He said that he can’t even imagine depriving any area of its right. He said that the government has launched Bacha Khan Akhpal Rozgar Scheme and Hunermand Rozgar Scheme last year which were successfully moving ahead. He said that further special initiatives will be introduced in education and employment sectors in next year budget. He announced grant worth Rs. 1 million for Buner Press Club.
He said that funds of Rs. 65 crore under package announced for Swabi have been released. He issued directives for estimating cost on protection wall for securing Naranji from flooding and announced Rs.2 Crore for provision of clean drinking water to Naranji. Earlier, the CM formally launched Rokhana Pakhtunkhwa scheme by unveiling the foundation stone. Provincial Education Minister, Secretary Education and Project Director Mushtaq Jadoon, MD Ahmad Khan and Principals of both the schools also addressed the gathering. Presidents ANP hailing from District Swabi and Buner chaired the gathering in their respective districts. MNA, MPAs, Commissioner Mardan and Malakand Division, DIGs, DCOs, Students, Parents, Teachers and large number of local notables were also present on the occasions.
