In its resolution, ANP said that borrowing such a hefty amount was a matter of national importance; therefore, the house should hold a debate on the issue by suspending routine proceedings. It also demanded the government take the Upper House into confidence about the loan.
Meanwhile The Awami National Party Pukhtoonkhwa Interim President Basheer Ahmad Matta has expressed serious concern with regard to reports /comments circulating in the media with regard to the 1.5 billion Dollars grant that the Nawaz Sharif Government has received from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He said , it is incumbent on the Government to explain clearly and in detail the exact status of this grant and say categorically whether it is a free gift without any conditions or it has strings attached to it. He said at present the country is faced with a number of serious and complicated problems – the most pressing being the problems of peace and security – and it is absolutely necessary that the Government should concentrate on the solution of these problems rather than getting entangled in rivalries of other lands. It should , at all cost , avoid to become a party in disputes and rivalries between other countries , particularly Muslims countries with all of whom Pakistan should maintain cordial relations; whereas current reports / comments in media suggest that by accepting the Saudi grant the Government has shown a partism tilt in the complicated antagonisms existing in the Arab world, which is a clear matter of serious concern for the people of this country who have complex troubles of their own to contend with.
